Archival 34By the end of the 19th century, Marshall “Major” Taylor was at the top of his sport. He was still searching for one thing – a true rival.

Hennessy’s latest “Wild Rabbit” creative tells the story of Marshall “Major” Taylor who, by the end of the 19th century, was cycling’s biggest superstar. Dominant in races around the world, Major was the rare sports hero who never encountered a challenger who could push him to greater heights – so he continually set new challenges for himself. Setting new world records a staggering seven times, Taylor perfectly embodies Hennessy’s “Never stop. Never settle.” mantra.

THE SIX DAY RACE

By the end of the 19th century, cycling was the world’s biggest sport, and Marshall “Major” Taylor was its biggest star. His first professional race in 1896, however, was not one of the signature sprints for which he’d become known, but a six-day endurance challenge at Madison Square Garden. His performance that day would be the beginning of a brilliant career that even now inspires modern day professional riders like BMX pro, Nigel Sylvester, and, elite cyclist, Ayesha McGowan. There are cycling clubs across the country that bear his name – and it all started with one race.

Hennessy V.S further commemorates Taylor with limited edition offerings inspired by his “Never stop. Never settle.” story.
